PATINA
Patina is a unique surface coating that forms on metal over time. As the patina on your piece develops, it visualises the journey you have taken it on. The way materials change over time reflects the habits and lifestyle of the wearer, creating a piece that is completely unique to each individual.
Black and MATT silver
Silver naturally oxidises and therefore blackens if not worn. This is a completely natural process that we accelerate in our oxidised black silver pieces to achieve a unique black finish. Additionally, we offer silver pieces in polished and matt finishes. As a pair of jeans fade over time, these patinas will develop to reflect your lifestyle. This allure of imperfection is deeply rooted in the Katie g. Jewellery philosophy; we celebrate the developing visual story of each piece. From certain chemicals in perfumes and cosmetics to manual abrasions and hand washing, the following illustration shows you how your oxidised and matt pieces may develop over time.

complimentary Re-coating service
The black and matt silver patinas gradually change and fade with time, the jewellery becomes a living piece. The beauty of these surfaces is that you can always return them to their original finish and start the process all over again. Please visit our Atelier for your lifetime free-of-charge re-coating service, to explore the endless possibilities of your piece.
the beautiful ageing of Gold PLATED Pieces
Our gold plated jewellery is heavily plated over sterling silver. As with all plated jewellery, the gold layer will eventually wear away. The pieces in our collection which are available in gold plating, as opposed to solid gold, have been carefully selected as their design permits the coating to fade evenly. While gorgeous patinas will be revealed over time, we are happy to restore your piece by providing a re-plating service for a small fee.
how to take care of your pieces
While Katie g. Jewellery is made to be worn, following these simple steps will ensure your piece brings joy for years to come. After all, everyone needs a little extra TLC sometimes.
